2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for making every effort to meet the sales goal established for assigned accounts.
Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, and other sources.
Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talks with customers by phone.
Aggressively seeks new customer, and to formulate and follow plans for such action as directed by Sales Manager.
Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
Recommends pricing of products based on company's guidelines, competitive information and profitability. Negotiates price acceptance with manufacturing.
Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
Seeks new uses and applications for company products with present and prospective customers. Recommends the addition of new products and the modification or deletion of present products to the line as appropriate.
Assists present and prospective customers through Engineering and/or purchasing channels in adopting company products to their own requirements and specifications.
Provides program management of OEM products including continuous cost reduction.
Handles customer complaints in accordance with company policy, advises management promptly of any situations beyond the scope of authority.
Keeps alert to competitive products and selling practices and notifies management concerning them.
Prepares reports of business transactions including customer visit reports and keeps expense accounts.
Prepares sales forecasts including booking and billings, territory potential, etc.
Attends and participates in sales meeting, training programs, trade shows, as directed.
Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.
Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Leads various phases of the business development process including analysis of strategy and markets, product target identification and supporting in closing new business.
Works with Sales and Engineering to manage communication and alignment with key internal stakeholders to support effective decision making and transaction approval processes.
